I am trying to upload the documents in SharePoint 2010 document library. I am using PowerGUI script Editor to debug this script. But while debugging the script I am getting the following error:

Exception calling ".ctor" with "1" argument(s): "The Web application at http://servername:2010/ could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application."

I found that the line of script which is causing this error is:

$SpSite = New-Object Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSite($URL);

Why would it be throwing this error? Could anyone plese help me out?

One of the cause of this error is that the user using which you are running the code is not in the WSS_ADMIN_WPG group. Follow these steps to add the user into this group.

1. Go to Computer Management
2. Open Users and Group section
3. Double click on WSS_ADMIN_WPG group
4. Add the user into this group

Hope this helps you.

Yes, check the user name with which you are trying to intall FIM services must have at least domain admin level of rights. Also please check the Alternate Access Mapping from Central Administrtion.

Thank you for your reply simms.

I have just added the user into WSS_ADMIN_WPG group and it start work.

Thanks again. :)
